Severe acute malnutrition kills hundreds of thousands of children each year, yet the cost of treating each child remains too high for many low-income health systems to scale. Breakthrough innovations are needed to dramatically lower the per-child cost of diagnosis and care. Cutting cost would let limited budgets reach far more children before malnutrition becomes fatal.
