Planetary seismic data is too costly to transmit and hard to analyze for real quakes

MMissions like the Mars InSight lander and the Apollo lunar seismometers record continuous data, but sending all of it back to Earth wastes scarce power and bandwidth, and most of it is noise. The challenge asks for methods that filter signals on or near the spacecraft to detect genuine seismic events. Solving this improves our understanding of planetary interiors and makes future missions more efficient.
