Large language models are not yet usable for global health needs

LLarge language models could expand access to health information and support health workers in low-income countries, but they are largely built for wealthy, English-speaking contexts and can be inaccurate or unsafe in others. Grand Challenges seeks responsible AI and LLM solutions adapted to local languages and health priorities. Trustworthy local-context AI could extend scarce expertise to underserved communities.
