Dark, shadowed regions of the Moon are too dim to study in captured images

PPermanently shadowed lunar regions appear extremely dark in orbiter imagery, hiding terrain detail needed for science and mission planning. Existing images need enhancement to reveal features without introducing artifacts. Clearer imagery supports exploration and landing-site selection. Posted by ISRO under the space technology theme.
