Toilets that work without sewers or running water are still hard to build

BBillions of people lack access to safe sanitation because conventional toilets depend on sewers, water, and electricity that many communities do not have. The Reinvent the Toilet challenge seeks self-contained toilets that safely process waste on site without those connections. Affordable off-grid sanitation would prevent disease and protect dignity for the world's poorest.
